“My little boy is growing up!”

Kasamatsu shifted his weight as you stood in the door way, carrying your six month old son. He started to regret coming to visit his parents so soon after the birth of his son, but upon seeing your eyes twinkle in happiness, and seeing how happy his mom was, the feeling subsided.

At least until you sat down in the living room.

“____-chan, did my little Yukio ever tell you about how nervous he was when he wanted to ask you out?”

He felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment, trying to deny the sad truth behind his mother’s words.

“M-Mom! You don’t have to tell _____ that stuff! She doesn’t need to know!”

Upon hearing how desperate your fiancé sounded, you turned your eyes back to his mother, “Now that you mention it, he never did tell me about that. I just always assumed he was a calm guy.”

At this, his mother laughed, her hand resting on her chest as she gushed, “You should’ve seen him, sweetie! He kept staring at his phone, even when he was supposed to be studying, and mumble about whether or not to call you. The one time he was standing in the hallway, his little brother took the phone and dialled your number for him! He completely panicked!”

Kasamatsu buried his face in his knees, feeling completely betrayed and humiliated. That was the one thing he didn’t need to be teased about at the age of twenty three. He was a man, dammit!

“He didn’t realize you’d answered until his brother pointed it out, and he was secretly hoping you didn’t hear how nervous he was.” she chuckled, bending over to look at her grandson. Her finger brushed over his eyebrow softly, causing the small boy to furrow them. “He’s definitely your son, Yukio! He even frowns like you!”

You turned to look at the black-haired ex-captain, a teasing grin curling on your lips at his behaviour. It was the complete opposite of how his son was acting, and you weren’t sure if you should laugh or sympathize with him.

The sound of the kettle whistling cut you from your thoughts, his mother excusing herself to make coffee. Lacing your fingers with his, you watched as he lifted his head, face tinted a nice shade of red, eyebrows furrowed with a frown adorning his lips.

“Were you really that nervous to call me?”

His eyes slid to you, a pout on his lips before looking at the floor, nodding. He thought his brother would be the one to bring up such a ridiculous story. His mother was definitely in to tease him.

“It’s okay, Yukio… Besides…”

He looked at you, noticing the hesitation in your voice, “I think it’s sweet you were nervous.. I…” you bit your lip, not noticing his attention completely focusing on you now, as you started to fidget, “I was also nervous to call you… So…” At this, you looked at him, giving him a huge smile, despite the blush on your cheeks, “I’m really happy to hear you felt the same.”

He looked down at the ring, lightly toying with it as a smile curled on his lips,

“Y-Yeah.. It makes me happy too.”

Looking around the living room, you noticed his mother wasn’t back yet, so you took the opportunity to pull him into a brief kiss. His free hand cupped your cheek, holding you closer as he proceeded to deepen the contact. Neither of you were prepared for the flash of a camera as you pulled away in shock, feeling heat rush to your cheeks. You buried your face in his chest as Kasamatsu started to feel anger once again,

“MOM!”

“This will be a nice photo for your son when he gets older.”
